A unique organisation

Honestly, IEAA is just a really unique organisation in how it brings our sector together across disciplines, whether through AIEC, the formal networks or professional development activities. I still remember my first AIEC conference fifteen years ago, feeling simultaneously excited and overwhelmed by the potential and impact the sector has but also the professional opportunities within it. I am still excited, but IEAA has helped me become a little less overwhelmed over time.

Actively engaging with various networks, presenting at AIEC and generally connecting with colleagues through events have been invaluable for me in getting opportunities to turn my hand to new things professionally.

I particularly enjoyed being involved in the ‘Meet the Directors’ series that saw us bringing together the Young Professionals network with the AUIDF group. I thought they struck a really good balance of being informal and – I hope – useful for colleagues with Director aspirations. And they are just good fun to do.

I’ve found the research output to be incredibly relevant and useful in my daily work. For example, the report on the impact of cohort mix on student experiences to be directly relevant when talking to university executives on recruitment targets.
