The revolution in data storage and advanced IT systems over the past few decades has transformed data into a valuable business commodity and the international education sector is no exception.

Data and analytics are now a key organisational resource for finding trends and opportunities to build organisational competitiveness. Data literacy is also becoming increasingly important to support evidence-based decision making.

This online module will help you identify and communicate convincing insights from a range of international education data resources. Participants will gain a better understanding of:

  • the importance of data and data analytics
  • how to nurture an analytical mindset
  • where to locate resources and collect international education data
  • introductory data analysis and data metrics
  • the importance of data visualisation
  • how to communicate data analysis through a valuable and convincing narrative.
Target audience

This module is aimed at international education practitioners who require access to and use quantitative information to inform strategic and operational business objectives. It will be particularly relevant to regional recruitment managers, planners, business analysts, policy officers, as well as marketing and recruitment professionals.

Learning tasks
  • Task 1: Data and analytics as critical skills
    Reflective task (200 words)

  • Task 2: Nurturing an analytical mindset
    Reflective task (200 words)

  • Task 3: Locating resources and data
    Reflective task (200 words)

  • Task 4: Introductory data analysis
    Learning check (short quiz)

  • Task 5: Data visualisation
    Read and reflect task (2 questions; 200 words each)

  • Task 6: Communicating data analysis
    Read and reflect task (2 questions; 200 words each)

Learning tasks will be assessed as satisfactory or not satisfactory. Successful completion of all tasks will earn you a digital credential for this online module.

Digital credential

Once you have successfully completed the module, IEAA will issue a digital credential via Credly’s Acclaim platform. Your digital credentials can be easily displayed, verified and shared online – whether it’s your resume, online or social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
