The IEAA Young Professionals in QLD chapter are excited to welcome emerging professionals in the International Education community and IEAA members to the first IEAA Young Professionals event of the year.

Join colleagues and friends for a dynamic speed networking event where professionals can connect, collaborate, and forge genuine connections. Hear from industry experts, including the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) CEO Hon. Phil Honeywood, IDP Head IELTS Customer and Market Insights Lyndell Jacka, and TIQ General Manager of Study and Migration Toni Brownie.

Hon Phil Honeywood, IEAA-SF

Chief Executive Officer
International Education Association of Australia

Phil has been IEAA's Chief Executive Officer since November 2011. Previously, he was a Member of the Victorian State Parliament (1988–2006), Minister for Tertiary Education, Training and Multicultural Affairs (1996–1999) and Deputy Leader of the Opposition (2002–2006). Since retiring from politics, Phil worked at Stott’s Business College and Cambridge International College. Phil is the Chairman of the Roundtable of International Education Peak Body CEOs and a member of the Tuition Protection Service Board. Phil is also a Board member of the Bennelong Philanthropic Foundation and the Bangarra Group Board.

Lyndell Jacka, IEAA-AF

Head of IELTS Customer & Market Insights
IDP Education

Lyndell is an experienced market research professional and is currently Head of IELTS Customer and Market Insights at IDP Education. With over 10 years in international education, she has led, shaped and developed research and insights at organisations such as IDP Education, Edified and Austrade. Lyndell is passionate about interpreting market research and intelligence for evidence-based decisions and making data visually engaging.

Kylie Cooper

Director
Study Queensland, Trade & Investment Queensland

Kylie leads a high performing team that supports Queensland’s International Education and Training sector and led the development and implementation of the Queensland International Education and Training Strategy (2022-2027). She is passionate about collaborating across all levels of government and with local providers and communities across the state to ensure a strong and sustainable IET sector. Kylie has extensive experience working across the Queensland Government in economic policy, regional development, research and innovation strategy and program delivery. She has designed and delivered a wide range of innovative grant, partnership and procurement programs across government, and represented the state on Commonwealth, State and Territory forums on innovation and international education and training. As Project Manager in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, she worked with the Queensland Chief Scientist to develop Queensland’s first whole-of-Government research and development strategy. As Director, Innovation Policy with the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation, Kylie led a team of innovation policy and program professionals to deliver innovation policy and strategy supporting the Advance Queensland agenda, and the development and delivery of a range of state-wide innovation programs. Her background also includes tertiary education, with four years at The University of Queensland (UQ), where she developed the first UQ Entrepreneurship Strategy and delivered new entrepreneurship programs, events and activities. Kylie has spoken at numerous conferences and events and been a university guest lecturer on innovation and government policy.

Georgia Hooper

International Marketing and Recruitment Officer
University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC)

Over the past years, Georgia has been employed in several roles related to research, tourism and now international education. Georgia currently works with the University of Sunshine Coast International Office, facilitating and welcoming overseas students to Queensland and liaising with industry stakeholders, partner universities and education agents.
