Varsha Devi Balakrishnan, IEAA-F

Varsha Devi Balakrishnan is a dynamic leader in the international education sector, combining deep expertise in research with innovative approaches to address complex challenges. Recognised globally as the 2024 PIEoneer Emerging Leader of the Year and the 2023 IEAA Tony Adams Rising Star, she has pioneered The Social Source, an AI-driven platform revolutionising data and sentiment analysis. Her work has influenced key stakeholders—including policymakers, university leaders, and industry stakeholders—driving impactful change across the sector. With a proven track record of delivering consultancy-driven solutions, Varsha excels in managing client relationships and integrating quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Drawing on her lived experience as a former international student, she brings an empathetic and authentic perspective to her work—ensuring that student voices are not only heard but drive decision-making. Her dedication to innovation, strategic thinking, and client-centric outcomes has established her as a trusted voice, consistently transforming insights into actionable strategies for organisational growth.

Rosie Brown 

Head of Student Garden 

Social Garden 

Rosie has 10+ years of experience in both domestic and international marketing/student recruitment. She heads up, Student Garden, a marketing agency offering advertising, content, marketing automation, call conversion and brand to a range of Universities, TAFE and RTOs across ANZ. Her 'pre-agency' career started in NZ doing comms for Massey Uni, sent her across Europe and Asia to recruit students for Deakin University, before spending time at UniMelb to deliver content and conversion campaigns. Since joining the Garden five years ago, Rosie has specialised in content marketing, performance marketing, campaign management, student recruitment, and marketing automation. She also is currently running a series of interviews with education leaders on the state of the market.

Hon Phil Honeywood, IEAA-SF 

Chief Executive Officer 

International Education Association of Australia 

Phil has been IEAA's Chief Executive Officer since November 2011. Previously, he was a Member of the Victorian State Parliament (1988–2006), Minister for Tertiary Education, Training and Multicultural Affairs (1996–1999) and Deputy Leader of the Opposition (2002–2006). Since retiring from politics, Phil worked at Stott’s Business College and Cambridge International College. Phil is the Chairman of the Roundtable of International Education Peak Body CEOs and a member of the Tuition Protection Service Board. Phil is also a Board member of the Bennelong Philanthropic Foundation and the Bangarra Group Board.

Henry Purcell 

Reconciliation Advisor, College of Business and Law 

RMIT University 

Henry is a proud Narungga, Wotjobaluk and Barkinji man who is the current Reconciliation Advisor in the College of Business and Law at RMIT University. Having worked in Aboriginal communities for the past 8 years, he has brought his unique skill set to the college to support the college goals of developing its own cultural capabilities and community engagement.

Sarbjeet Singh 

Student 

Study Melbourne 

Sarbjeet (Sunny) is a final-year Bachelor of Civil Engineering student at Deakin University whose remarkable contributions have earned him the Geelong Youth Award and the Premier’s International Student of the Year Award in 2023. Sunny currently works as a Stormwater Engineer at the Geelong City Council while he completes his degree. His impact extends beyond the classroom and workplace through his services as an Ambassador for Study Geelong, Engineers Australia, and Deakin University. Committed to community welfare, Sunny addresses issues such as international student rights, student housing and food affordability.

Dr Kaushik Sridhar 

Founder

Dr. Kaushik Sridhar is an experienced and purpose driven corporate sustainability leader with over 18 years’ experience developing and implementing sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs, strategies, and initiatives focusing on improving business’ financial bottom line and contribution to society while reducing their environmental impacts. His previous industry experience includes working in senior sustainability roles at Levande, Evolution Mining, Regis Healthcare, KPMG, EY and Unisys where he has built and led multi-million-dollar and award-winning sustainability programs & strategies. His commitment to making an impact in the community as well as driving change within large businesses, universities and not-for-profit organisations has placed him in good stead with a wide range of stakeholders. His efforts have been recognised by various industry awards including being named ESG Impact Leader of the Year in 2023.

Nicolas Tranquille, IEAA-AF 

Manager, International Partnerships and Engagement 

Deakin University 

Nicolas is an experienced international education professional and former international student, currently serving as International Partnerships Manager at Deakin University. He has held roles at both Deakin and RMIT, leading strategic global engagement, transnational education initiatives, and international business development across Asia-Pacific and Europe. Bilingual in English and French, with working proficiency in Spanish, Nicolas brings strong intercultural competency and a global perspective to his work. He is skilled at navigating complex stakeholder environments and forging partnerships that align with institutional priorities, support student mobility, and drive long-term impact.

Suyi Xie, IEAA-F 

Manager, Partnerships & Development 

Monash College 

With a decade of experience in market and business development, including seven years in international education, Suyi currently is the Partnerships and Development Manager at Monash College. In her role, she focuses on partnership development and oversees all transnational education initiatives across six countries. Suyi's personal education journey as an international student from China, navigating academic landscapes across four countries and obtaining a postgraduate qualification in international business, fueled her passion for the field. Suyi is also currently the Co-chair of the IEAA Young Professional Network in Victoria and an IEAA Associate Fellow.
