IEAA Chief Executive Officer Hon. Phil Honeywood and CEAIE Deputy General Secretary Ms Xiao Lei signed the memorandum at Monash University’s city campus in Melbourne. CEAIE President Professor Liu Limin was in attendance, alongside representatives from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Commonwealth of Australia, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Melbourne, Edvantage Group, AIDE, and Monash University.
The cooperation aims to promote the closer ties of education between Australia and China, and to increase the communication between educational institutes and schools regarding student mobility and academic exchange.
The signing ceremony was part of a brief CEAIE tour of Australia, where the President and Deputy Secretary General also met with IEAA Vice President, Professor Ren Yi, and IEAA Treasurer, Bronwyn Bartsch, in Brisbane.
Celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2024, IEAA is Australia’s not-for-profit peak body for the international education community. Together with affiliated bodies, corporate partners and government, IEAA works together to promote the benefits of international education to the broader community through three strategic pillars – advocacy, professional development, and research. IEAA strives to empower professionals, engage institutions and enhance Australia’s reputation as a provider of world-class education.
Founded in 1981, CEAIE is China’s nationwide, not-for-profit organisation conducting international educational exchanges and cooperation. CEAIE is committed to developing exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese educational community and other parts of the world, promoting the advancement of education, culture, science and technology, and strengthening understanding and friendship among the peoples of all countries and regions of the world.
The two associations now look forward to attending one another’s conferences and supporting future activities.
