National Symposium on the future of Australia-China School Partnerships

On 21 May 2024, IEAA convened a National Symposium on the future of Australia-China school partnerships. Held in Melbourne and online as a hybrid event, the Symposium attracted a combined audience of more than 200 school leaders, educators, policy makers and other active Australia-China school partnership stakeholders. This project was made possible by a grant from the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, through Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Individual sessions within the National Symposium focused on:

  • Best-practice case studies of Australia-China school partnerships, including digital partnerships, curriculum partnerships and school-to-school initiatives;
  • Government priorities and participant perspectives on the future of Australia-China school partnerships;
  • Australian expertise and excellence in international education that enhances capacity to engage with Chinese schools sector stakeholders; and
  • Celebrating people-to-people experiences in Australia and in China as a catalyst for life-long connections.

The Symposium provided a unique focus on schools partnerships within the broader context of international education.

In order to share key learnings, ensure accessibility and deepen impact of the information and insights that were presented during the symposium, IEAA has made available:

  • A follow-up report on the National Symposium on the future of Australia-China school partnerships which can be downloaded in English and Chinese;
  • Full-length recordings of Symposium sessions; and
  • A photo gallery
